| The Portable Toilet Project - UPDATE AUG 2007 |
|

The Portable Toilet Project:
WCCCA is seeking tax-deductible contributions to continue this project. Improving sanitation for families and the community is a key to healthy life and a healthy environment. Previous donations have been used to provide portable jons and supplies to families that do not have indoor plumbing -- but the funds have been exhausted. The last portable toilet that WCCCA had provided was removed early in May.
The legalities of this situation has been discussed with two attorneys. Families will be advised as to the County's regulations.
The need is there! One example: A mother living in the community whose house lacks indoor plumbing recently was admitted to the hospital suffering from impacted, inflamed and twisted bowels, for which surgery was required. She does not have health insurance. She expressed concern that her children and others in the community who live without indoor plumbing could experience a similar medical emergency.
WCCCA's immediate need is to raise $1,500 in donations to pay for 4 outhouses. Any additional funds collected will be used for hand cleaners, toilet paper and other sanitation supplies.
Please help us to help your neighbors who face such a vital, basic need. Please send contributions, payable to WCCCA, on the check made a notation to specify the Portable Toilet Project. For more information please contact

Faith Connection Development Center
Making a difference in the lives of others
And
WESTERN CHARLES COUNTY
COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
August 26, 2006, we will be in Nanjemoy for a clean up and community outreach
Our clean up will take place at the top of Gethsemane Hall Pl.
(See needs list and additional details)
with WCCCA’S ADOPT A ROAD picks ups
starting at the corner of Tayloe Neck Rd. to Cobey’s place and
Baptist Church Rd. to Green Leak Road
(Route 6 in front of the Nanjemoy Community Center)
Candidates interested in western Charles County communities, supporters, Faith Connection and WCCCA are asked to encourage the community at the tent which will be at the intersection of Tayloe Neck Rd. and Port tobacco Road. All are asked to meet & greet and inspire those who can help to improve the lives of this community. We will have Voter registration, food & refreshments; balloons for the children, Project Path will provide toiletries. As part of our pre steps in our 1st world projects, donations of water will be available for the community; four portable toilets and inside portable commodes will be delivered to the corner to be distributed to
four pre-selected needy families, after the event.
An approximate needs & wants list for August 26, 2006.
This clean up will begin at the bottom of Gethsemane Hall Pl. (which is directly across from Tayloe Neck Rd. off of Port Tobacco Rd.) picking up on both sides of Gethsemane Hall Place, continuing approximately 700 Feet to the top of the Hill. The clean up will extend to IShine Place with approximately the same depth. (On August 26, 2006 the clean up will not include the excessive amounts of trash that extends beyond the boundaries mentioned.) Residents of this area have several trailer frames to dispose of; approximately 2- 4 boats and 1 or more sheds they would like to have torn down and dispose of.
33 (40-Cubic-Yard Dumpsters are required for this job)
WCCCA is offering three letters from Charles County Commissioners. These letters will allow the refuge company to dump three loads of trash in Charles County’s landfill without a fee. S&F refuge will charge $250.00 each for the three dumpsters providing they have WCCCA’s dumping fee letters.
Front-end loader
Torch (to cut disposed of trailer frames
into parts for removal from premises)
Gloves, Bags
Metal Barrels – Try contacting Warring Barrels. In previous years barrels have sold for $5.00 each. (The barrels would be left at the residence to allow for burning of household trash when the ban for burning is lifted in September 2006. A special exception is required to allow burning at this time.)
What’s to be done with the containers once they are full? How will the residents dispose of cans and bottles?
Adopt A Roads

2. Begins at Baptist Church Rd. to Green Leak Rd. (Route 6 in front of Nanjemoy Community Center)
